what we know you want us to do,

and always what pleases you;

so that, cleansed and enlightened interiorly

and fired with the flame of the Holy Spirit,

we may be able to follow in the footsteps of your Son,

our Lord Jesus Christ,

and so make our way to you, Most high,

by your grace alone,

you who live and rule in perfect Trinity and simple Unity,

and are glorified, God all-powerful, forever and ever.

All:  Amen.

Praying Our Rule

God, give us the vision to observe the Gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Teach us to go from the Gospel to Life and from Life to the Gospel.  Help us conform our thoughts and deeds to those of Christ to obtain the radical interior change which the Gospel calls conversion.  Give us the grace to faithfully fulfill our proper duties in the various circumstances of our lives.

Father, we trust you.  We trust you by seeking a spirit of detachment from temporal goods, by simplifying our own material needs.  We trust you by purifying our hearts from every tendency and yearning for possession and power.  We trust you by accepting all people as a gift of the Lord and an image of Christ.  We trust you by esteeming work, both as a gift and as a sharing in creation, redemption, and service.  We trust you by cultivating in our families the Franciscan spirit of peace, fidelity, and respect for life.  We trust you by respecting all creatures, animate and inanimate, which bear the imprint of the Most High.  We trust you by moving from the exploitation of creation to the Franciscan concept of universal kinship.  We trust you by bearing peace unceasingly.

Father, through our Lord Jesus Christ may we bring joy and hope to others.  Mindful of our ultimate encounter with You, O God, may we give You glory and praise, Who are all good, supreme good, every good, forever and ever.  Amen.
